M. Reşat Güner
Accordion, Arranger
Born in İzmir in 1966, he received his first music lessons from his mother during his primary school years. In 1977, he was admitted to the İzmir State Conservatory. While studying in the bassoon department, he also developed an interest in piano and composition, encouraged by his solfège teacher Burhan Önder. In 1979, he was accepted as a private student in the composition department by Muammer Sun. However, he could not continue his studies in this field due to the department’s closure in 1980.
He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in 1987 and began his professional career the same year as a bassoonist in the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra. In November 1987, he won second prize in the bassoon category at the national wind instrument competition held in Istanbul. Throughout his student years and beyond, he performed in solo and chamber music concerts.
During his university years, he played piano, accordion, and other keyboard instruments and did arrangements in various musical groups. While working with the symphony orchestra, he also successfully performed accordion parts when needed.
After 27 years of service, he retired from the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra in 2014.
Since retirement, he has continued his musical journey by improvising on piano in theater performances and working on composition and arrangement projects in his home studio. In 2024, he became one of the co-founders of Altera Ensemble.
